Well, I have all of the pieces cut and all of the blocks made -- now I have to put together the top.

Its going ok - I dont mind all of the set in seams. My machine does not mind the layers of denim. I love the start of the results -- but, man its slow going.

I did cut enough diamonds to make two tops - so Im glad Im not facing another session at the cutting board soon.

I was at a going away party two weeks ago and a guy showed me a pic of this floor in vegas saying he wanted a quilt like that -- I said "oh its a tumbling block" -- and we talked more later on. He liked an other quilt I make that was all kinds of blues - and another one I made that was all rough looking work clothes - so this quilt idea was born.

The top and bottom sections are just tossed on there - but thats what Ive got finished today - I like it a lot. I ususally am not a blue person - but I lie lots of tones of any color together.

Anyone got pics of their tumbling blocks quilt to share?

My mext one is going to have the left overs from the string star quilt + the blues -- i think it will look great.

That's terrific it's going to be an amazing quilt. I'm a bit Y seam wary but just looking at that quilt inspires me to rethink. Denim is a great choice for tumbling block I never would have thought of it but when you do it's like - of course.

The first class I took had tumbling blocks as one of the sampler blocks using English paper piecing. I was over it after one block but I got the accuquilt die for diamonds so, I'll now have to put it on my growing list of things I want to try

Hope you post a photo when done

I could look at the website but I am lazy -- what size diamond is the accucut -- approx?

Mine here are 5 inch (ish) unfinished

The only thing I dislike about denim quilts is CUTTING the pieces. I have lost more skin from my fingers due to templates and rotary cutters... blech.

Will you back this quilt? Or what? What size seams are you using? Are you opening them or pressing to one side?

I started this one a few years ago. I can't imagine working on it any more, but the most interesting thing is that it's one of the most visited pages of my blog.
