Date: 12/18/12 8:28 PM I'm making a knit top out of a horizontal stripe knit, uneven stripes to boot!
Matching the stripes for cutting out was no problem but as I'm trying to pn and sew in the sleeves the best I can match on the stripes is from the underarm to about mid way up, front and back, despite the fact that the stripes were matched to the top notch when I cut it out.
Snoop shopping shows that a lot of RTW stripes only match to the point I'm able to match to, mid way up, so I'm wondering if it's the best I can do.
To make matters worse I'm a perfectionist and the mismatched stripes will drive me nuts!
Thoughts?
Debbie

Date: 12/18/12 8:55 PM I'd go nuts too & a lot of RTW does not match up ... that's why I sew . As for tips , I'd hand baste it first and try on before proceeding to see what areas really make a difference to your eye. Am thinking your arm would cover any underarm area , it may be the lower part that is more noticeable ? |

Date: 12/18/12 9:06 PM I was planning to hand baste first. There's almost no ease in the sleeve cap but I'm thinking of trying to remove some at the top (basting in first) to see if that will move the top stripes into a better alignment.
Thanks for the thoughts.
