After watching me sew for all of her 23 years of life, my daughter asked for a sewing machine for Christmas. I was almost moved to tears!!! I ran to my trusted dealer, explained my needs, and the associate offered two choices in my price range: the Babylock Molly ( love the name ) and the Singer Confidence Stylist After trying out each machine, I decided to get the Singer because it has more features for DD to grow into if she decides to stick with sewing (and I certainly hope she does!!) I've never been a fan of Singer, and I hope my DD doesn't remember all the anti-Singer trash-talk I've spewed over the years. I'm just happy she wants to learn to sew and I had to share.

Date: 12/19/12 2:16 PM I remember my first sewing machine. It was a beautiful brand-new Singer in a gorgeous walnut cabinet..1957 was the year.
My mother actually asked for this for her birthday so I could have it to sew on! (Mom's are SO unselfish - she never even sewed on it once.)
I had it in my room and the cabinet doubled as my desk.
I used it thru 4-H and then in school for Home Ec.
I wish I had it today.

Date: 12/19/12 2:32 PM So happy for you! I think Singer is making a comeback of sorts these days. They are offering a lot of features for a reasonable price, and people seem to be very happy with them. With your dealer's support, I'm sure she (and you) will have a positive experience . |

Date: 12/20/12 8:20 AM Long time Elaray! So happy to hear this news. Yes, I've had students bring in the new Singers and they have been happy as clams with them. I was really happy to see one student brought in a brand new one with a vertical bobbin! So, they are also offering variety. ------ Bernina 730E, 530, and 350PE

A few years back, my then 22 year old daughter decided to make scrub tops for her fellow nurses. I gave her one of my machines; I was so excited she wanted to sew. She made one scrub top with my assistance, gave the machine back to me, gave all the fabric to me, and let me make the rest of the tops! She just does not like to sew, much to my disappointment. She does, however, love fabric stores and we have many great trips selecting fabric for the items she wants me to make for her, her home, and her friends. It will be great for you to share your love of sewing with your daughter. ------ Elna Excellence 740, Pfaff Quilt expression 4.0, Janome 300E, Brother 8500D, Janome 900CPX CoverPro, Brother 5234 Project Runway Serger, Singer Treadle
