Date: 12/21/12 6:43 AM This is my latest adventure! A Tranquility Charm pack I sliced in two, with 1 jelly roll of stripes cut 5" long, here is what I've come up with so far.
I wanted this to look like Books in a bookcase because the stripes lend themselves to that look, but it's sewn similar to the Chinese Coin quilts.
Not sashed yet, they are just laying on top because I think I need to look at photo's to see if I have to move a Column around. This is what I've been working on the past 2 nights

Here's the bottom 1/2 -- Right now without sashing it measures in Length 72" -- across about 62 (then I need to add all those sashing strips). This is very big for me so I don't know if I should add more bordering to it?
Bottom section -- Edited on 12/21/12 6:44 AM -- ------ I have great enthusium for sewing, but lack talent to be great.

2 members like this. Date: 12/21/12 9:29 AM I love this look. I think I'd add just a small border, of a color that would make it pop against the black, bringing out one of the interior book colors. It could be only 3 inches wide. And then agin, I am a believer that when you have the sashing, no border is really required! ------ Bernina 730E, 530, and 350PE

Date: 12/21/12 10:35 AM Thanks Southern, I'm thinking of the Aqua color would that be too much of a pop against the black?
These is alot of browns in here, some light Pinky, orange, well you know, scrappy which is normally not my style. ohh alot of Color box Purples hmm
Thanks for the ideas, I'll audition a few and see what happens.
People are SO helpful!
Thank you Portland -- Bookcase Blocks? Don't know what to call this since it's a semi-coins quilt, but not exactly. And wow scrappy, for me that was sooo hard not to play "matchy" with these pretty fabrics.

Date: 12/21/12 1:08 PM Very nice!
About the borders, etc:
What size do you want it to be when you're done?
How wide are your sashing strips? How wide will it be after you've added them?
Do you want the quilt to be wider than it is long? Or do you mean for it to be turned the other way?

Ignore these questions if they aren't helpful! I'm just throwing out things to think about.
