After not sewing for many years I'm anxious to get started again, especially since I bought a Pfaff 2140/2170. But I've forgotten alot and lost my confidence. I want to take classes and sign up, but end up having to cancel out due to chemo treatments or the effects of the chemo treatments. The Sewing Workshop website offers a $99/yr where they send you a flashdrive and teach you how to make 3 outfits along with alot of other tips at your own pace and when you are able to (not sick) They suggested 2012 instead of 2013 because it covers zippers which I always avoided. I want to know if anyone else has subscribed to this $99/yr.plan, and what they thought or what anyone else has to say about it. Thanks.

I have not subscribed but my dealer did the course in her shop. It was very well received, I know one woman had not sewn clothing for years. I have participated in a three day workshop with Linda Lee, and she is awesome.

I'll be anxious to hear too. Linda Lee is incredible.

Yes I have a membership. I enjoy the drafting segments.
Bodice, sleeves, skirts and pants.

With the hours of instructions online it is well work the fee.

You can watch some of the chapters for free to see the quality of the classes before you sign up.

Thanks all for your posii ive input. I talked it over with my husband, and he thinks it's a good idea as I could do the tutorials on the days that I'm feeling good and have some energy. I was a little leary because it was online but with all your inputs I'm going to go ahead and do it right after my next chemo treatment. Ill keep you posted during the year while I do it. Once again thanks for your help.

I haven't taken the one you mentioned. But I have signed up for a few Craftsy classes $20 special. I have lots of bad days and I like that these classes never expire and I never feel pressured- I can go at my own pace.

I also have signed up for several Craftsy classes, they never expire and you can take the ones you are interested in, you can watch them over and over. They also have several free classes, so no need to purchase any to see it you like them. They put these classes on sale a lot, so don't pay full price. It is sponcered by McCalls Pattern Co. They are offering a sale price right now, but the sales don't last too long so hurry. www.craftsy.com

Just looked on Craftsy and the Retro Bombshell dress covers
zippers. Others may also, click on the photo of the class and you can see a preview of any class. They also have workshops for just $7.99.

I agree the Craftsy classes are a good resource and when they have a sale they are very affordable. Some are just $10 right now, regular $40. It's worth a look. The sale ends Dec. 24th. I have purchased about 8 classes from Craftsy this past year. Also the classes on PR are very good for specific things: knits, interfacing, cloning garments... And for fitting issues I highly recommend the Louise Cutting series of DVDs she's done with the folks at Threads. I have all five DVDs - which may still be on sale through the Threads website, not sure. They are mainly to teach you how to adjust patterns for fit - very well done and useful, timeless information. On her website Louise sells booklets full of information on a number of topics. I love those booklets!
