Date: 5/10/05 12:56 PM Hello...What a huge web-site. I'm getting lost already! LOL I am sure I will figure out how to navigate myself around soon. For now though, I am overwhelmed! Not only am I new to this neat-o board....But I am a very beginning level rookie at sewing.
Anyway....glad to be here...ready to start learning a ton of things, many blessings...

Date: 5/10/05 1:25 PM Besides this being a great community, one of my favorite things about this site is that it is very well-indexed and easily searched for specific information. Deepika has been very innovative and thoughtful that way. Welcome!

Date: 6/10/05 7:12 AM Hi,
I am new here, too. I stumbled in recently while searching for information about pleating a skirt, and I guess there was a link to here. I read some of the posts at the message board. One that particularly caught my eye was someone posting a fabric source for inexpensive denim ($2.00 yd.) I visited that website, thought I saved the link to my favorites, but now I cannot find it. Do any of the regulars (or may a moderator) happen to remember that post? I did search the message boards but none of the denim related messages had that website listed there. If anyone is familiar with that site, would you please post the link Thanks a bunch.
On a more personal note, I will introduce myself. I am a military wife and have 2 daughters ( and a grown son ) We live overseas and it is hard to find nice clothes for my girls. They dress fairly conservatively and don't care for a lot of what is available for girls their ages. So now, I have started to sew for them out of need more than desire. However, we are having fun looking together at fabrics and patterns. Even my teen-age daughter is asking me to make things for her, as I was originally sewing for the younger daughter, since the older one was not thrilled with the idea of wearing homemade clothes until she realized how you could make it fit the way that you want it to fit.
I have enjoyed visiting this site and am considering a paid membership once my trial is up.
Happy Sewing everyone! Next page>> |

Date: 6/10/05 7:36 AM Welcome Mom of 3 and Daisey Mama- I'm pretty new here too. Its been wonderful to find that there are people still interested in garment sewing and sewing of all kinds. Even tho I've been sewing for a number of years I am learning so much from this site. There are many well seasoned sewers here that are happy to help and answer questions. Have fun checking everything out. ------ Penny

Date: 7/10/05 10:02 PM Another newbie checking in to say hello! A quick intro: I'm a university student who was interested in sewing when I was little (I had one of those little toy sewing machines and used to try to make clothes for my Barbie dolls...the keyword being 'try'...), but had an almost instant desire to start learning 'for real' about three years ago. I went with my mum to the fabric store and started flipping though a Butterick pattern catalog and realized how much some of the designs resembled those I liked in RTW. After lurking here for a bit I've been really inspired by all the great stuff I've seen, and I hope to learn a lot! ------ Born to sew! Next page>> |
