I have problems with extra fabric under the rear of my pants that I make (and buy). I finally figured out how to get rid of the extra fabric under the rear in pants I make, but then the crotch and hips are too tight. Would this class help me with these fitting problems? |

She really is very knowledgeable. For $29.99, you really can't lose and should learn much more than you might expect. ------ "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are." Anais Nin

Date: 12/24/12 7:35 AM I bought the class from craftsy that Sandra Betzina did, she did 2 and I would have to look to see which I am doing. In it she shows a series of ladies and their fitting problem, including the one you mention, she then goes thru altering the patterns (both a 2 piece and a pattern with the seams down the front) to show you how to get rid of the problems. So far it has been enlightening. I also have watched Peggy Sagers free videos on her web cast and purchased her fitting videos. They all help some. I would be curious if you did this class to see how much more she offers. But I would also try the Sandra Betzina if you haven't already, I got it thru craftsy when it was on sale for 14.99, which I think they are having a sale too right now, not sure what the price is.

Date: 12/24/12 10:25 AM Blessed to sew, I'm actually taking Angela's online pants fitting class right on PR right now, and I strongly recommend that you sign up for it, too.
Angela is personally helping me fine tune my TNT pattern, which previously had the same problem, extra fabric under the seat, that yours have. As Eleanor stated, Angela is extremely knowlegeable (and an extremely nice person), and the $29 sale price or even the regular $59 course fee is extremely reasonable for the benefit you will receive.
The key advantage of Angela's class over books or the Craftsy videos is the personalized fitting advice Angela gives to each class member who posts her pants photos. Simply post the front, side and back photos and Angela will give you specific details of the changes you need to make to get your pants to fit you. After you make the change, post another set of photos, and Angela will give you the next set of changes you need to make, and so on.
It will require time and effort on your part to sew each set of changes, take the photos and post them, but your work will be rewarded. After several rounds of changes, including scooping out the crotch, taking even tucks or uneven wedges, etc., the fit of your pants will be transformed, as mine are now being transformed.
Angela has also created a set of PDF files which show drawings and photos of common fitting problems, and these are also quite helpful. But the primary advantage of this class is the personalized fitting advice you will receive from a true professional.
I think PR's other online fitting classes are extremely helpful, too. I have taken Sarah Veblen's bodice fitting class and recently signed up for Angela's jacket fitting class, which I'm about to start. What a tremendous resource it is to have access to personalized sewing advice from these extraordinary sewing teachers for a modest class fee.

Here is the link to the website, which shows a different video each week.
Just guessing, you may have spent more thatn $30 on patterns and fabric for pants that do not fit as well as you would like.
Do the class.

Date: 12/26/12 10:16 PM The PDF files alone that Angela created are worth the price of this class - I would highly recommend it. |

Date: 12/29/12 6:24 PM I'm so glad I stumbled across your post! I was just about to make a post about the Angela Wolf jeans pattern I'm working on. I'm having a difficult time making my muslin fit. (saggy butt, drag lines...) and I can't figure out what is wrong or what modifications I need to make. I think I'll take this class. Perhaps we could take it together! Good luck to you. ------ Lorri

Date: 12/30/12 12:36 PM Hi Nancy,
I took a bodice fitting class from Sarah Veblen with you earlier in 2012. From your positives about the Angela Wolf pant fitting class, I'd like to enroll. I checked it the other day and read up, but now it's not listed. It looked like it was not a video class, always accessible, but I got the impression there was not a fixed start and end date. However, is it structured like Sarah's- given during specific dates, the PDF lessons are released in sequence with chats interspersed? I was hoping to sign up with sale price, but maybe the start date is past and the window of opportunity is gone? Thanks and good luck with perfecting your pants. ------ Sometimes she didn't always follow the recipe.

Date: 12/30/12 4:01 PM wendyrb, I just signed up for the class last night and noticed it was not listed this morning. But I just went to online classes (tab above). Once that window opens, Up top on the right side there is a box that says "get notified" when online classes are available. Click on that and then scroll down. you will see Angela's class listed. Click on "more information" and another window opens up. From there it looks like you can sign up for the class. Some of the classes indicate that it is not open right now, but hers looks like it is. Try it out and it's only $27. It is SO worth it!! Lots of information in the PDF files. And I've already posted pictures. I'm waiting for a response from Angela on my first alteration. Good luck.

Date: 12/30/12 4:49 PM Thanks Lorri and it works. Sad to say my ID was stolen yesterday and I've had to cancel credit cards. Will see if there is another way to work it out. Wishing you the best on getting your pants to fit. First step for me is to trim down after the holidays! ------ Sometimes she didn't always follow the recipe.
