Date: 12/25/12 4:43 PM ...and I did not ask for (or get) a new iron for my Christmas gift...
It’s a Rowenta iron I bought a couple of years ago at Tuesday Mornings for $80. It just stopped heating up - The iron detects that it’s idle or it’s moving, but no heat. From googling, I think the thermal plate is broken? Anyone know if this is fixable?
I don’t have any complaints on it but I have been eyeing the Reliable V100 for a while. Thankfully, I still have my old Sunbeam in the storage (which I have just taken out to thaw before plugging it in to see if it still works).
Sigh, I will need to start researching best Reliable V100 price... |

Date: 12/26/12 10:50 AM I have the Reliable iron and I love it. After about 2 years it had a malfunction and I bought the same iron as a replacement. My plan is to have the first one repaired to keep as my spare iron - I always keep a spare iron around to press into service in case of emergency. You can't beat the Reliable for steam generation and weight.

Date: 12/26/12 11:05 AM My main iron is a Rowenta and if it should bite the dust (it is about 5 yrs old) I would get the same brand again. |

Date: 12/26/12 2:05 PM Nora - Thank you for the hug
jannw - That is where I plan to buy the iron (refurbished).
I'm just wondering if it's worth fixing my current iron. My dad took it apart and said this looks like a really good iron and I should get it fixed. The problem looks to be in the sole plate where it is not getting "signal" for heating up. When he connected the electricity directly to the sole plate, it heated up really fast. But we weren't sure which parts need to be replaced.... |
