Date: 12/26/12 6:51 PM Simplicity 4014 calls for lining. If my fabric will not be see through or very thin and has body, is there a reason why this should be lined. I can understand lining the coat, but the dress? I live in the southwest and lining would make this dress too hot.
Thank you for your help. |

Date: 12/26/12 7:11 PM If you check the reviews, there is one for this dress where the reviewer says she skipped the lining and it turned out fine. I'd ask her directly.... put the pattern number in the search box, top left, and look for the red dress a few reviews down ------ Viking Lily 545

Date: 12/27/12 1:22 AM I often don't line dresses for the same reason - I live somewhere hot (although, it's humid here too). On wovens I'll do a partial lining in cotton sometimes, other times I'll use bias binding or facings, depending on the look I want. There's no way I'd be wanting to wear a dress with a synthetic lining for most of the year here (or even add more layers than necessary). ------ Brother BM-2600

Date: 12/27/12 8:10 AM Thank you both for info. I'll definitely do the dress without the lining...and since Hancock's has a Simplicity sale starting tomorrow, I'll get the pattern then. Only hope that it's not a discontinued style.
