Date: 12/26/12 7:42 PM Lynn I am so sorry about your 710 and the unacceptable stitch formation. I sewed on this machine at the quilt festival in Houston this fall. It was of course perfect and the buttonholes were amazing in that you could adjust the cutting width and the bead size of the buttonholes. I loved that the even feed foot was retractable. My dream duo would probably be the PCP and the 710 but as my wonderful Bernina dealer closed I may not get the 710! Or??? Maybe I will, but I think it will be a wonderful machine for you when he has his trip to the spa!

Date: 12/26/12 9:57 PM I am hoping that the adjust for Lynn's new baby Quincy is really easy and doesn't require a full spa visit, maybe just a mani-pedi. Bernina build such quality machines that I am sure it is a small adjustment. |

Date: 12/26/12 10:07 PM Thanks!
Unfortunately, I'm told it requires a replacement part. And as I really am not happy paying almost $4K for a new machine that needs to be sent back to Bernina for X many weeks/months for a replacement part, this one's boxed up and going back tomorrow.
I'm undecided right now as to whether to have them order a new 710 in, or just walk away. I need to sleep on it. ------ I heart Panzy, Pfaff Creative Performance, the sewing machine love of my life! Date: 12/26/12 11:46 PM Apparently not the bobbin case, but I dunno which replacement part it is. Date: 12/27/12 1:22 AM UGH! I'm sure glad Hyacinth only needed a couple of weeks at the dealer. Sending the machine back is sucky.
It's really sad that Bernina is not testing the machines properly before sending them out. I am so happy with my Berninas, that I want you to be able to love yours. I hope Bernina gets it's act together soon. When the machines work properly, they really sew beautifully. And sound so nice too. Date: 12/27/12 10:12 AM Many new 7s have not have any troubles, and some were easily fixed. This makes no sense. You'd think they would all be basically the same problem, since it's all tension related. Then we heard that there were special tools and a class for the techs to be able to fix the machines. Now a computer gutting?
I'm sure heads are rolling at Bernina over this. ------ Bernina 730E, 530, and 350PE

Date: 12/27/12 11:30 AM Your first and last sentances are exactly what I said to myself when I woke up this morning.
As a first-time buyer of Bernina, I'm having deep doubts over the whole concept of "Bernina quality" and have lost my enthusiasm for bringing Panzy's companion machine Pal (B530) home. In fact, I'm feeling the desire to walk away completely and striking Bernina off my list for good.
And that's with me going in knowing there had been issues reported with a lot of the early 7 series.
But a brand new machine, almost $4K, that is unusable, that needs a replacement part right out of the box, that already has an update to fix some other tension issues, and that Bernina says has other unresolved issues they're working on?
A $200 machine at Walmart has better tension than this 710 does...this all does not fill me with confidence
I was up until 3am stressing over it all (after saying I wasn't gonna stress it, lol!) I'll call today and speak with the owner before deciding what I want to do. But I have decided against getting the 530 until this entire 710 issue is sorted. They open in 90 minutes, so I best get myself showered and dressed. I'll tell all when I'm back again...wish me luck!

Date: 12/27/12 11:31 AM I'm afaid I have to agree with you on this. I own a Bernina and love it. However I am so glad I did not go with the 7 series.
I still do not understand why they want to release a series that has so many problems showing up within weeks of release. I am concerned they had ruined their rep with a lot of customers. How many more releases can they get away with? I think this has to be the last one, or they are not going to get the good rep back. ------ Quilting is relaxing to me.
