While negotiating downed trees and avoiding thigh high water in the aftermath of Sandy, DH ripped a large hole in the sleeve of his beloved black leather jacket.

Well, his loss is my gain . I'd love to use the leather to sew something, maybe an accent on a garment or something, but nothing is calling me. Thus far, I've persuaded him to allow me to add it to the hoard, er, stash, but I think he'll chuck it unless I can come up with a realistic plan.

Would love to hear your ideas.

Check out this review that Karen6790 did on a purse made from a pair of pants.....I traced the pattern, but never got any further than that in my quest for a purse made from the thrift store skirts I have been collecting.

Leather trim on a coat or blazer/jacket always looks chic...lapels, sleeves, epaulets, etc.

I love a leather vest.
You can go for smooth and plain or lined with something snuggly.

Either a whole bag or the accents (tabs, straps, etc.) are great in leather. Or something really different, like slippers/shoes! Spats?

I also have a friend that bound journals in leather.

So this is DH's jacket? I'd make him something out of it so he can cherish it (and you) forever. Maybe a laptop case; an Ipad case, a Kindle cozy. Then use the rest for yourself.
