Date: 12/27/12 7:35 PM Hey guys, I've often wanted to wear a unique men's biker jacket but been unable to find anything locally. So, I was wondering if anyone knew of a pattern like this biker jacket, here? I have observed, however, that men's and women's biker jackets seem to differ in one key respect, namely the angle of the zipper!
Here's a pic. of the jacket I'd like to eventually sew when I have the skills to accomplish it: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/burks-bay-leather-motorcycle-jacket-black.aspx?a=595837 |

Subject: ISO a Mens Biker Jacket Pattern Date: 12/27/12 10:00 PM Do you hope to make this of leather or another fabric? Looks difficult to begin with, but to make that of traditional weight riding jacket leather would require some pretty special skills and machinery.
Good luck in any case! ------ A sewing machine is just a welder for textiles. |

Subject: ISO a Mens Biker Jacket Pattern Date: 12/28/12 6:08 AM What an ambitious project! If you wear denim you could start making a zippered and snap featured jacket to get the fit down and build some skill sets with lining and all. Then work with the leather type material perhaps in home dec or a craft project to learn how it handles. It's a gorgeous jacket. ------ re-living my youth through sewing... |

Subject: ISO a Mens Biker Jacket Pattern Date: 12/28/12 12:47 PM I made the Burda Style Larissa 6032 which has many of the features you have here. The pattern went together really well in a heavy double faced suede/fleece. You would need to invent some of the details but it would be a good start. |

Date: 12/28/12 2:39 PM Oh, I don't plan on making one for years, now, until I feel I have the skills. What worries me about the burda style jacket is that it seems to have been sized for women, not an XL-sized guy! |

So, you're requesting help and guidance for a project you plan to tackle in 2015 or later? |
