How to make the Doorganizer. (Sorry, I'm Old School: so this is only text...)

Sorry I'm so old school and can't provide pictures or a tute. Here's the description. If you make one, maybe you could post printable pattern pieces and construction photos, here or on your blog, or something. I worked the pattern out from the picture and description (with dimensions) of the retail product (which, by the way, sells for $17) ===== BODY of Doorganizer (cut 2) 12 3/4" x 6" FACING for the doorknob hole (cut 2) 6" x 6" square (doorknob hole is 2 3/4" diameter) 3 POCKETS (cut 1 of each) -smallest: cut 4 1/2" x 6" -medium: cut 5 1/2" x 6" -large: cut 6 3/4" x 6" KEYFOB: (cut 1) 2 1/2" square Use 1/2" seam allowance. Round all the corners slightly. On pockets, turn down 1/2" on the upper raw edge (one of the 6" sides) and top stitch. Construction: Take 1 main body piece and mark the doorknob circle on the wrong side. Now, take a facing piece and place it, right sides together, where the hole will be. Sew all around the hole through both the body and the facing. Cut the inside of the hole out and clip the curve around the hole. Turn and press. This is the same technique you'd use to make a single welt pocket! Do the same for the other main body piece and facing. Add the pockets and the keyfob to the right side of one main body piece. Place both body pieces right sides together; 1/2" seam, sew ALL AROUND both body pieces. Turn through the doorknob hole. At this point, I also wrestled a piece of cardboard inside through the doorknob hole for stiffness. Topstitch around the doorknob hole and around the 2 main body pieces. Questions.... what type of fabric did you use? Are you making it waterproof as in winter here it can get moisture or even a little ice .....??? Also regular or thread that is good for being outdoors.... ultra violet sensitive by Coats & Clark I used for outdoor captain chair covers...??? Sorry for too many questions. Are you making it waterproof ...for being outdoors I think canvas is best and wouldn't need a stiffener inside BUT my old machine can't handle canvas, so I just used quiltweight woven cottons and did a contrasty thing among the pockets. Very jolly. And, of course, those who have an embroidery machine can add the DO NOT FORGET! text. Waterproof could be nice: like oilcloth. But most people are hanging this on the INSIDE of the front door. These make great gifts: a nice hostess gift if you drape it over a bottle of wine! j. -- Edited on 12/28/12 8:21 AM --

See last pic: adding a tab to the back for mail, or newspaper, or a note for your loved ones when they leave the house. Never noticed that before. I think I like it! You could slip a Pop Tart in there...! j.

I was thinking of spraying it when completed with water proof like you do shoes. .... it would be on an porch that does get cold & damp in winter time. ......
