I love the idea of the one pattern many looks and I was inspired by the "one pattern endless options" article in Threads May 2012. I want to get really creative with my new TNT tee pattern - Angela Wolf's ruched tee
My goal is to draft a different version for each month this year. I'd also like to find a basic skirt and basic woven top to make multiple versions of as well.
I think it will be fun to share what makes a pattern a TNT for you and maybe get new ideas for being creative with old favorites.

I'm currently making my third version of Simplicity 2246. I've yet to make the cute shirt dress that the pattern is supposed to be, but I find it to be the best shirt block.

The first blouse made from this pattern was an Anthropologie knock off

The second was just a plain button down shirt out of some cool fabric

The one I'm working on now is very similar to the second but will have "western" pointed yokes on the front and back. Also making this one with a full length sleeve for the cold weather.

That's an excellent idea, chenille! Cute top, your TNT, am looking forward to see several views of it!

I may not be able to join before Feb but think I'd like to stretch my creativity and get a series of skirts and and tees from my TNTs, assuming that a bit of drafting is allowed?

Happy Sewing!

WoW! Awesome job with that knock off - especially loved the curved yoke and I almost bought some of that cool fabric! What color for the western one?

Thanks! My idea was for us to really push the limits of creativity - so as much drafting as you like - there are no rules. In the threads article (sorry couldn't find a link) some of garments shown were very far removed from the base pattern.
One of the variations I am planning is to leave the top fitted to the midriff, then draft in godets ( for lack of a better term) I'm thinking 2 each front and back then curve the hem to be lower in the centers and higher at the sides.

Sounds great! Can't visualize the 'godets' yet but the hem and look forward to see your design come to life!

Since I have been reading a THREADS article a couple of years ago where three seamstresses (including Judith Neukam from THREADS) made three very different jackets from the very same pattern, I like the OPML idea - which is basically what we do here, right?

I lack to understand the rules for the OPML contest - they seem contradictory to me - but will try to enter anyway but since many of my ideas for tees and skirts would break the rules, it's nice to be able to sew along with others and have more flexibility.

Thanks for starting this thread!

Happy Sewing!

Impressive work Froggiegirl. Interesting idea Chenille, I can't quite visualise it but you sound as though you have worked it out. It occurs to me that your basic pattern would also lend itself to some very simple changes to the collar, pulling it asymmetrically with a tab at one side for example, or changing it to a wider boat shape neckline.

I agree GBK about the OPML contest rules, they just sap my creativity. Was thinking that PR should have an advanced OPML contest that would allow pattern drafting. Having this thread is a great way to have something similar to that. Good thinking Chenille.

Petro - Thanks and I agree with about the changes that could be made to the Angela Wolf tee.

I am entering the OPML contest - but it is very restricted and that is what gave me the idea to start this group. Thanks for the ideas, Petro!

I also have plans to do a striped version with the collar in one piece cut on the bias.
This top is so close to a perfect fit through the shoulders and neck on me and where I have the most problems with the B4 patterns - I consistently have to cut out like 1.5 - 2" through the CB so that the shoulders will stay put. Interestingly, I don't have to alter the shoulder length.
I'm looking forward to starting these projects very soon, and seeing more of what you come up with.
Happy New Year!
