Cut 'n' Sew Foot

One of the included accessories was a cut 'n' sew foot. It trims the fabric while making an overcast stitch and I'm guessing it is meant to replace a serger. I'm a gadget nut and could be tempted to buy this attachment for my machine. Has anyone used this type of attachment? Is it practical? I own a serger; love it and use it all the time. I know it's most certainly user error... in fact...I think I will try again! ------ http://www.acdc-vintage.com This one, that one, and a bunch of other ones! (though the herd is getting more streamlined)

A serger is so much faster and neater. Do they even make these anymore? For the price of this attachment (which I actually bought in 1987), you could get a Brother 1034D.

But I own a serger so it has never left the box- not even to test it out. I can't think of any situation that I would change to that foot instead of using my serger. ------ re-living my youth through sewing...

It's a head scratcher...The blade is more an Exacto knife and seems messy. I'm already abusive to my machines without filling it with fluff. I used it a lot to overcast seam allowances on cotton. That was before I got a serger and haven't used it in years. it was useful.
