Date: 1/2/13 2:50 PM I have had this dress form for a while, but had no where to use it. Now I would like to rehab it to use in my new sewing area. Since some of the body panels have come undone from the slides and screws they were hooked to, I am considering taking pictures, taking her apart, recovering the pieces and doing some fill work to the back sides and refinishing the metal before putting her back together.
I could find no information on this type of project (and you thought you could find anything on the internet, lol). Does anyone know more about working with these?
Or has anyone attempted this? |

Date: 1/2/13 3:07 PM I thought of doing the same with one I once had, but changed my mind. Too lazy, I guess. But I planned to mark each piece with an identifying number and letter, such as A-1 for the upper chest, left side, and B-1 for the right side. A would be for right side and B for left, and the pieces would go in numerical order on the way down.
If you do this, I'm sure you'd feel very accomplished and every time you looked at "her", you'd smile. ------ "We don't impose our rhythm on Nature. The key is to respect and live within Her." Jean-Charles Boisset, Winemaker

Date: 1/4/13 7:00 AM I have an acme!! its a bit tippy on its base but really a great form! I wish they'd make them again! I have a petite daughter and was able to dial it down to her exact measurements. I could dial it up to mine. There's a nice range of sizes built-in. I think your plan is very do-able. you might even be able to cover the existing pieces and then make or buy a a leotard to fit over the top. Mine has the original purple sweater knit for a covering! |
