Hello! I just bought this book as well and am VERY excited to make the Rebecca bag next (and not just because it's named for me!) (I made the wallet and it worked out great!). I haven't started making it yet, but as I was reading through the Rebecca bag pattern I was shocked that there was no interfacing required for the handles. If this is what you mean by "thin", I would suggest using a light to medium weight interfacing for the straps. If you have access to the book "Sew Serendipity: Purses" they have an AWESOME method for making handles for bags, and I have used this method not only for the projects in that book, but for my own designs! Hope this helps I can't wait to make mine. I stumbled across your question because I am currently searching for that EXACT bee material she uses for her Rebecca bag. GOOD LUCK :)

wow! "Thank you" for your answers and help. um, that is a good advise about the handles and the interfacing and yes i do have the other book call "Sew Serendipity" But i was really asking for how come the handles come out to be so thin? and not to long to fit on the shoulders, i havent finished the bag yet but i will...and i will post a picture if i could so you can see it ok ;), but if you find the Material let me know, it would be nice to make it with that one. i agree...have a good day and sorry for my delay on responding...
