Date: 1/10/13 7:49 PM Hi I just bought a kenmore 15817550 at Goodwill it had everything except users manual. The machine sounds good, belts good but it won't feed the fabric. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks |

Date: 1/10/13 8:19 PM maybe the presser feet are down. the feet are not moving. Give it a good oiling and let it stand. I did this with one of my pfaffs and then it moved like it should.
I just look and there is a lot of them on ebay. ------ Galatians 5:22-23 The Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these |

Date: 1/10/13 9:18 PM I had a problem like that with a thrift store machine. I was so sure it was broken, I didn't notice that I had the stitch length set to 0.
There's a vintage kenmore group on yahoo. They might be able to tell you where to find the manual for your machine.

Date: 1/11/13 10:46 AM Check the stitch length and also check that the feed dogs aren't dropped below the needle plate. Most of the Maruzen machines (158. prefix) have that little lever down by the bobbin. |

Date: 1/16/13 2:16 AM Have had a Kenmore 158.18?? for decades (literally). I just gave it away so can't confirm the exact suffix. I agree with the previous poster. It's most likely the feed dogs are dropped. Push the little rocker switch at the front right hand side of the machine and see if the feed dogs pop up. As for manuals you can buy them online for similar models. Be aware, most are just (poorly) scanned copies of an original. I have one for my old Kenmore. I will be glad to email you the .pdf file if you like. It won't be exactly like your machine, but the difference is usually in the bells and whistles, not in the basic functions. |
