Finally I put all the black sashes on and around this BookCase Quilt -- Now I wonder if it should have a border or not?

This photo shows it on a Queen bed, so it's not quite that big. If I were to add borders -- well there are ALOT of colors in this - Suggestions most wanted!

I really like it as is! I think a border will take away from the awesome design.

Can you lay it out with a few border choices so we can see what it would look like?

Really nice! I t looks great without a border but since you probably want it to be a little bigger I can see putting a border on it. Try a few different fabrics to see what looks best. You will definitely need to bind with the black sashing fabric to keep the look intact. You may want to try a double border for effect.

I woulds leave it as is and either forgo the binding or bind and then pull the binding completely to the back of the quilt.

I agree.. it would suffice as is. And the only way to know if you should add a border or which one to add would be to just play with it.. If one says something to you. then add it..

I'm no expert but I think a green that matches the green in the blocks might look really nice. You'd have to see if that looks good. I also think if you went with that light green the border would have to be wide enough to balance against the dark black.

You could add a dark greyish brown or charcoal grey border and then another black on the outside. Or not. In any case, bind with the black.... Just my opinions.

Boy, that really came out nicely. I am really unsure about a border.

wow you are good LOL

I used up a Striped Jelly roll and a charm pack cut in 1/2 so they began as 2 1/2" x 5". I also had left over Black on black tone prints from a Jelly roll.

Black blocks were used as a beginning for each column and then a black block every 8th one. If I did this again I would add the black (or dark brown for a wood effect) every 4th or 5th one which I thing would highlight the striped "Books" better.

Thank you all!! I've got some Black weavers cloth for the backing and also didn't want to take away from the front design, but I'll look at perhaps a double border with a green or gray and back to black.

At 3 or 4 am it's hard to sit and wonder What borders for this -- So someone is always here ready to help :-)

Debbie
