Has anyone seen these machines? Just curious as I'm on the hunt for an inexpensive machine for classes/travel. I bought my Bernina 380 a couple of months ago, but it doesn't have adjustable presser foot pressure or an automatic thread cutter. I'm not happy having so much money invested in a machine that I rarely use, which is also lacking in some features that I'd really like to have. The Brother Simplicity SB3129 has both adjustable presser foot pressure and an automatic thread cutter for much less $$. And, I love the red accent!

The housing is the same as the PC-420 and they are fairly substantial in size and nicely made. This machine comes with just about every foot you would need, including a walking and quilting foot plus it has My Custom Stitch™ for creating your own decorative stitches. No stitch overload, either, like on the PC-420.

I wish we could order these online...my local Brother dealer has a temperamental personality and I always swear I'll never step foot in his shop again. I really like the red, too!

Here's the .pdf info sheet on it:

I knew the housing design looked familiar, but I couldn't place the model. I've read that Brother makes some Babylock machines to their specifications with more metal inside parts than the Brother. I just bought a Babylock serger and am wondering if I should go in the direction of the Babylock Elizabeth instead of the Brother.

The Elizabeth sure is nice and you would gain a knee lever on that one. It looks like it has a 7 point feed dog, too. I really love the green on it. The only downfall is that you have to unscrew the needle plate. I no longer have an interest in that! Just give me a pop-off plate...

If I weren't so addicted to a knee lift and the rocking action foot pedal I would have loved the Viking Opal as a second machine. I use done in Houston at Quilt Festival and it was quiet, smooth and intuitive to use. It did not feel cheaply made.

I have to say that I know absolutely nothing about Viking machines. I'll have to see if there's a dealer nearby.
