I have embraced the long-tailed top and leggings look.

The combination is so comfortable and can easily be dressed up with a jacket and boots.

I sewed up Vogue 8854 in a stretchy winter white woven and have worn it with silver leggings, black velvet jacket and boots to a dinner party. I have also worn it with black leggings and a double breasted jacket with a scarf to less formal event.

The jackets I wore were at least 10 years old - but they seemed to work for the outfits.

Great way to update the look without spending a great deal.

Has anyone else embraced these fashions?

I've come around to tunics with a belt and leggings. We went out with a friend, and she made a comment about my being dressed up. I was like "But I'm not even wearing real pants!"

Yep, I wear leggings with longer sweaters, tunics and shirts all the time. I love it. I wear knee-high boots with them. It's comfortable at work, yet still looks professional. You have to make sure not to go sloppy though, e.g. I don't wear oversized baggy anything. My shirts either have a natural curve in at the waist or I pair it with obi-like belts.

I agree. Oversize or sloppy can only be accomplished if you look like a model anyway. Not a problem I have but I love tunics and leggings and often get compliments. I like the way tunics can be trim yet skim over the problem areas while the leggings hold it all a little firmer.

I never left the long top- so glad they are back. I havef shopped tops in stores for nearly 10 years- they are just way to short on my figure and not flattering. So glad they are back again.

I really like this look too and have set out to change my wardrobe somewhat to this look. For someone that is short like myself, the shorted front length is more complimentary than the whole top being long. The longer back also hides more sins, for me anyway.

Does anyone make their own leggings, or have a favorite brand?
I need those with extra length.

I also like this style and wear it often.. I make my own using the StyleArc Laura pattern..I did use a Burda and an Ottobre for pairs, but prefer the SA for the fit around the knees and the raised rear waist. The Burda also had the raised waist, but not as high and the leg angles were slightly different as I recall. StyleArc just fits me better. I also use a 4 way cotton spandex from an eBay vendor.

It is one of my favorite and go-to styles but I also balance it with the reverse, higher waist form fit tops with drapier bottoms or skirts.
