I'm hoping for a TNT tee shirt pattern and I believe I have it narrowed down to these two patterns. I read the reviews here, and there are far more for the Jalie pattern than for the HotPatterns (it's their updated Plain 'n Simple). People seemed to mention the HP is too short and needs length added to it. Just looking to see if there is an overwhelmingly greater preference for one versus the other? Of course if your TNT tee shirt is another pattern entirely, I'm happy to hear of it. (The one main thing I do not want is anything like a boxy fit. I'm a small-boned pear and can't wear boxy/square anything.)

You would probably do better with Jalie & changing between sizes as your body does.

Thank you Julia! That makes sense.

I think you'll like Jalie. They are the only brand that I can get the neckline to look professional enough with.

Thank you! I'm starting to realize why there are so many more reviews for the Jalie tee. Considering the simplicity of this type of garment - - yes, I do want to get that neckline to look professional.

I haven't tried the Hot Pattern that you are thinking of only the Sunshine Top (Love it), however I found the instructions a little more sparse than on the Jalie ones. I personally love Jalie patterns as I am smaller boned as well. With all the sizes included it is easy to make adjustments. Not to try and be the devils advocate, but have you looked at the Sewaholic ones. On her website she says she drafts for more of a pair shape, and I do believe The Refrew Top was on the list of nominations for Best Patterns 2012.

Just my two cents worth.

PS: Good luck. Looking forward to seeing your results!

Yes, I love the look of the Sewaholic patterns! I've actually looked long and hard at the Renfrew top, too. The only drawback is that I know I'll need to slightly re-draft the neckline for the V-neck, as I will want it a wee bit higher....and I'm not too confident of my skills re-drafting a t-shirt neckline, seeing as this is my first time trying a V-neck. (It probably isn't that complicated, is it?) Maybe I'll end up buying two top patterns! It's a self-given Valentine's Day gift.

V-necks are super simple to raise.

She may even have a how-to on her blog, but I don't remember for sure. If you ask nicely she may even post one for you. But they really are easy to raise.
