Date: 1/17/13 8:49 AM I have one cat that is fairly good about staying off of my sewing projects and will even detour around projects laid out on the floor, so I was surprised by the reaction to the new wall hanging I've made. This cat won't stay off of it! The colors are greys and reds which, according to the research, cats can't see. He knows it's there, since he will come running across the room to sit on it. All the fabrics have been in the stash for a while, so I don't think smell has anything to do with it. His green quilt, which is a color cats supposedly see, has been ignored for a while now.

Date: 1/17/13 9:27 AM My girls seem to like blue & also greys & browns. I notice they seem to like the feel of anything I sew that is flannel regardless of the color.
Also they are nuts about fleece.
I wonder if greys & browns remind them of natural things they would hunt ourdoors ? ------ I am a gal from Kalamazoo.... oh what a gal... smile.... It is in Michigan... la la la ...love that Glen Miller classic!

Date: 1/17/13 10:08 AM Interesting information about how cats see colour. My cat prefers one blue mouse toy with a pink tail. We have others, but that one is the one we locate before doing the vacuuming. It's his favourite! |

Date: 1/17/13 10:45 AM How interesting! My all white cat likes blue and green. Her favorite toy is a blue and green twisted pipe cleaner. We find it in the food every morning or in front of our bedroom door. Our all black cat responds more to sounds than color---like the pop of a can---he thinks it's time to eat!
And I agree, a cardboard box is the best over all the other entertaining pieces we've bought! |

Date: 1/17/13 10:50 AM Cardboard, tissue paper, fabric of any color or pattern... anything that could possibly detract my attention away from kitty stands to bear the assault of his grey and white fur. His arch nemesis? The vacuum! ------ I'm finally a blogger!

I have one cat that runs even when she see's the vacuum coming out of the closet.
I've never noticed a preference to color but they both love fleece.

Date: 1/17/13 2:06 PM Not a cat, but when my dog Tess was little, she was afraid of anything large and red--a cooler, a hanging plant, my winter parka. Our vets kind of pooh-poohed it, but it was a definite response to the size *and* color. Took buying a red station wagon to take her to the park before she got over it. ------ ~Gem in the prairie |

Date: 1/17/13 7:25 PM Not a colour, but Charlie, one of our kittens (7 months now) has a compulsion to use the littler box, when I am brushing my teeth.
Sophie our 7 year old cat will always come if you flush the toilet. She comes running and leaps onto the seat to watch the water swirl.
Lizzie (8 months) love fleece, preferably when I am wearing it it with my hair down. She tucks under my chin and kneads away. ------ Proud parent of a Dwight International School Honour Roll Student |
