I've been taking Burda Mag for a while. Does anyone know if there is an index of some sort to search for a pattern in a back issue? I remember seeing a craft item in a back issue, but I can't remember which issue it was. I've looked at the BurdaStyle site and didn't find what I needed there. Any suggestions?

Can't help with a straightforward index, but what I can give you to is my accumulated links to Russian sites that have every issue of Burda since the 1950s scanned in. Google translate is horrible as usual, but it'll give you an idea.

For modern/recent Burda magazines, this site is great as it has a single page view of all the technical drawings:

Burda from 2001-date (updated regularly) -- Use the year number links on the left to navigate through the different years. In recent years, every pattern and accompanying fashion sample is shown. For some years only partial info is provided, and then you're better off looking at:

For older scans of the entire magazine (not the patterns sheets) from 1950 onwards:

Burda 1950-1988 -- click on the covers to see the contents.

Burda 1988-2011 -- click on the covers to see the contents.

One woman. One sewing machine. One giant stack of fabric. What could possibly go wrong?

Thanks so much. This should be a lot easier and faster than looking through years of back issues.

BTW, it seems to me that about a month after an issue comes out the patterns (or some of them) become available on BurdaStyle site. That is why I went there first to look. Do you use the BurdaStyle site?

Not much as I find their search engine painful. I gather than the German site (burdastyle.de) has more patterns available on it than the US version though. Just use Google translate again if you can't read German.

You're welcome! I waste a lot of time poking through the vintage issues. Also, there's always amusement to be had from the translation of Russian descriptions. My favourite is the oft-repeated "Elastic dress with a smell".

Wow...I'm going to have so much fun (and waste SO MUCH time!!) flipping through the issues from the 50s and 60s. What an amazing resource!

Seriously, it is awful! I have not been able to figure out a way to display all patterns from a particular month, I have to go through all tops, all dresses, etc. Does anyone have a shortcut here?
