Date: 1/20/13 7:10 PM I just finished New Look 6648 View B with the V neck and the long sleeves. The V neck is really wide but I love the top. Now I'd like to sew another long sleeve version but with the View A neckline. From the reviews I've read about how wide the neckline is (can't stand to see my bra straps) and I have small sloping shoulders anyway, how can I reshape the neckline on View B to make it a scoop neckline like View A's but not falling off my shoulders? |

If you add a generous amount (?2 inches), you can always cut it away if you're added too much. You will need to play with it a bit however it looks like a manageable change.
Good luck

Date: 1/22/13 4:39 PM One way, if you don't want to measure anything or have to redraw out anything at all, on your own, is just when you go to cut out the new second one, find another pattern at your house that has more the neckline you would like instead. Just pin that one even right on top of the other uncut pattern piece on your fabric. Then when you go to cut out your fabric, you will have two pattern pieces from two different patterns, one pinned on top of the other one, just as a guide.
On that shirt though, you would have to do that with both front and back pieces of the blouse, as the place you feel might be too wide for your shoulders and would show bra straps, would be at the shoulder seams of both the front and the back of the blouse, and of course they have to match up too in the end, when you go to sew it out for real. Also maybe make sure it's really going to even fit just popped over your head too, as if it gets way too narrow there, possibly it would not. -- Edited on 1/22/13 4:40 PM -- |
