I found great fabric at JoAnn's, exactly what I was looking for to do a Chanel type jacket. Now, I find that it is a loose weave and should have some type of backing or stablizing to keep it from raveling.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

I wonder if we bought the same material? Glad you asked the question. I was wondering the same thing. I think I am going to line it with Ambiance from JoAnn's but I was wondering about an interlining too-I was thinking of a cotton or flannel? I would be interested in knowing what else might be better.

The tricot/knit type of fusible interfacing will be the easiest way to prevent raveling.

It probably is the same as JoAnn doesn't carry a lot of this kind of fabric. Mine is brown with orange and dark green running throught it. I bought Bemberg lining in dark brown, but now wonder if I should go with something in a lighter color or different fabric. Good luck on your sewing.

Thank you for your help, and I need to find that type of interfacing at hopefully JoAnn's.

In the past I have fused the stabilizer to the fabric and then cut out my pattern pieces.
Good luck with your project!

I think I bought that but I also bought a black/white that is an even looser weave. I want to make a coat but I think it is too thin for lining. I can serge seams so I am not worried about it raveling. I am worried about being cold if I make a coat. I don't think just a lining will be enough. I found some fabric at Hancock's this weekend that I think I will like for a lining as it is a little heavier than traditional lining fabric. I think I still to figure out an interlining. I am in no hurry. I assume I won't get this started until well past winter.
The dark brown sounds nice but I think it just depends on what you want. Good luck to you too!
