I have a $50 Barnes & Noble card burning a hole in my pocket. I was going to buy some other stuff. But I thought I haven't brought a new sewing/book in a long time. So I'm not really up to date on the good ones. Any particular ones you like?

I like to get magazines............. Stitch is one I have come to like allot. Some of the magazines have free patterns in them too to use. I like Women who Create too though I have only gotten it a couple of times.

Oh my $50 gift card at Barnes & Noble, so exciting ......enjoy !

The last one I bought was the Colette Sewing Handbook (and I got it at B&N). It's fairly basic, but was a good fill in for quite a few techniques that no one ever bothered to teach me! Plus it comes with patterns.

The BurdaStyle Handbook is similar - I'd say look at both and see which would be better for you. It's main feature is that they show several variations for each pattern - so for the more advanced it's more of an inspiration book.

Both have several reviews on Amazon.

Use it for used books! Cruise B&N for the used but in good shape books - oh how I love using gift cards for used books or NOOK books!Seems like saving twice! I have gotten so many used sewing books in really good shape - maybe even unread. That way I don't feel bad giving them away either!

I meant to add that I got that Quilting book I reviewed used as well. ;)

Quilting Projects By Machine from the Singer series - great!

I like this one (don't do a google search on this, otherwise it will show up at $392. (yes, that's a three, a nine and a two all in front of the decimal.)

That's a riot! Amazon has it brand new for $22.99! Gotta love used booksellers that aren't paying attention...

QW, that's such an open-ended question I don't know where to begin Do you want to learn something new? Traditional? Art Quilt? FMQ? Applique? Color theory?

I'm a gadfly when it comes to quilting books - I want to learn everything I see.

I just got "Sunday Morning Quilts" which I am enjoying, but I'm a beginner. All the quilts are from scraps and there is a large section on organizing, what to save and such.
I've been looking at some of the Japanese quilting books...way too complicated for me but fun to look at. You might enjoy them.
