Date: 1/22/13 10:46 PM I think I'm going to take the Laura Ashley NX-2000 back to the store and exchange it for the Ambition 1.5. My question is do anybody out there use the ambition for quilting ? and what has been your experience? ------ Juki F-600

Date: 1/24/13 6:40 PM Yes, check with Portland on that machine.
I bought a Viking Quilt (the new model is 875Q) with the 10" harp space and it's a DREAM to quilt with. Hover and pivot for piecing... so also check that out if you want to do alot of quilting.
;=Debbie ------ I have great enthusium for sewing, but lack talent to be great.

Date: 1/24/13 7:17 PM Its really up to you - I had mine when they first came out and at that time there was only 1 free motion foot for the machine.
It was a foot that pushed the fabric all the way down HARD when the needle was down and bounced up when it went up -- the extra drag that created on a quilt was too much for me wrists. I have a little carpal tunnel and found I could only straight line stitch with that machine. And, most of the time I had to slow the machine down to avoid a "thumping" "working too hard" kind of sound when I was doing that.
It is a great machine in lots of ways - but for me -- not a quilting machine.
I loved the NX2000 I tested. In many ways its more machine than the 1.5.
I read your other thread, too --
Perhaps some classes would help out -- the thread cutter alone is worth keeping the machine -- but I also love the screen and I love love the wide deco stitches the nx2000 can make.

Date: 1/24/13 9:04 PM That's one of the reasons I bought the laura ashley in the first place however some of the deco stitches are not aligned correctly. When you "run" them the stitch does not line up. maybe it needs to be reset or calibrated? ------ Juki F-600

Date: 1/24/13 9:33 PM If you have a new machine the stitches are not right you should still be under warranty. It is not acceptable for a new machine not to have excellent stitches. I LOVE some of my deco stitches and would hate it if they were stitched incorrectly. If you like the machine otherwise make them fix it or give you a new machine, if that feels right to you. ------ Barb |
