Date: 1/24/13 6:30 PM I have two older 654DE sergers and they will hic-up when sewing very heavy material going over the seam unless I change the needle out. On page 11 of my manual is says to use a JLx2 needle, left position to help. The machine's did come with this extra needle and it DOES make a difference. Do the newer Juki 654DE sergers still require this needle on the left side to handle heavier applications? Does page 11 in your manual talk about it? I've never heard anyone mention this and I know it is a popular serger. I am wondering if they have changed the machine not needing this needle size Otherwise I do love this machine!!!

Date: 1/25/13 10:29 AM I have a brand new 654DE and yes the manual still advises the special needle on the left for heavy material. It came with some of these JLx2 needles as well as the regular ones.

Thanks for the reply! I had talked to a gal from Juki America and she knew nothing about these needles. I like the Organ ones that came with the machine and they are hard to find. Only online........ |
