Date: 1/25/13 10:54 AM My littlest daughter loves gymnastics and I would love to make her some simple Jalie leotards. The ones we have bought are either a thick, liquid-metal looking fabric that is not scratchy at all, or thick, soft stuff that feels like velvet. I don't even know what to call them to search for them! Any good sources for high quality athletic fabrics in small quantities? This is a whole new area for me and I know nothing ------ “Chaos is found in greatest abundance wherever order is being sought.”

Date: 1/25/13 12:32 PM I really like Spandex House and Spandex World (.com). Not affiliated, bu they have pretty much every stretch material known to man. Both will send swatches. |

Date: 1/25/13 12:51 PM I got swimsuit fabric for my daughters suits from Ebay, find the seller lycra4sale, they have a good selection, I got 4 yards of fabric (1yd each of 2 prints and 2 yards of liner) it cost about $25 with shipping and I got it really fast. I can probably make 4 swimuits with all that fabric. |

Date: 1/25/13 2:44 PM The soft stuff would most likely be stretch velvet. The liquid metal is probably a metallic spandex or a holographic foil spandex.
Highly recommend Spandex House, Spandex World and Stretch House -- use them all the time. All 3 do swatches and their prices are good -- I think there smallest cut is a yard but not positive on that. I know some of them have a minimum $20 order.
Good luck.
