Have unused jelly rolls left...or parts of jelly rolls left over?? Are new to quilting and not sure where to start? or just want to have an old fashioned quilting bee with friends? Come join us in making two quilts..the Scrappy Trip Along and the Postage Stamp quilt! Both quilts are quite popular on the quilting blogs right now and are easy to do..limited only by your scraps and time. And both can be made in any size from cushion cover to king size bed! The Scrappy Trip Along requires fabrics 2.5" x 16" and the Postage Stamp strips are 2" x 7", if you are using left over jelly rolls you can get 2 STA strips and 1 Postage strip from each one. It's not scrappy, but it is quilting. I don't have a cotton stash yet. I need to come up with an idea for using knit scraps. I have loads of those. I wonder if a crazy quilt pattern would work? Years ago, in this area there was a woman who made quilts from knits..I don't recall what type, but several people I worked with bought some. Why don't you try a couple of blocks? Try cutting the strips so the stretch goes lengthwise, then if it stretches too much, it will be cut off when the block is squared up. Date: 1/29/13 10:14 AM Thanks for starting this jannw -- it should be just what I need to get started on some quilting projects for the grandkids. I'm hoping to get one done for each of them before Christmas. I've been going through cotton remnants from years and years of projects and should have more than enough to do a quilt for each of them without shopping -- I think I might even have enough larger pieces for backing. The only thing I'll need to buy will be the batting -- time to start watching for a sale on that. I just ordered it!! Looks like fun and so helpful for the larger pieces..I've been folding everything so I could cut with my 12".
