I am using S2907, but assume many boy's patterns don't use a stand, due to small necks. They are fast to whip up, except for the collars.

They turn the facing inside, notch it, then when the collar goes on the usual way--sewing the under facing to the shirt, then folding the collar over that seam and topstitching--it's hard to match up the collar edges with the notch points, especially in WOVENS.

(DIL likes Daddy-shirts for her little urchin.) There never seems to be enough strength at the notch with this method, hard to line up edges, and topstitching doesn't always catch in the under collar evenly or ends up with more ease in the back shirt neckline.

Anyone find videos for another method on small clothing? Most tutes show those for men with collar stands, or extending the front facing to the shoulders, which is bulky for kids.

Bump for the weekend, please!

I asked several Moms on their "sewing for boys" Blogs and
they don't want to deal with button-downs, prefer to get
them at Old Navy etc., but I enjoy sewing different non-kiddie
prints for my tough little guy.......

It looks like a regular "convertible collar" so if you can find any videos or online tutorials for adult shirts, I think the child's would be a smaller version.
