Raise the neckline in a strapless dress? Strapless neckline too low

Have you tried lifting it up so it sits where you'd like it, pinching out the extra fabric at the side seams? That's what I'd try first. Otherwise, you can lengthen the bodice - the pattern pieces should have a double line that says "Lengthen or shorten here". This will help to raise the neckline. My 2c. :) Good Luck!

If you click the pic above there are 360 pics. Maybe that will help see the front better. I didnt notice the mirror image or lampshade until after. I was just trying to get decent lighting:) So it looks too big? I actually shortened all the bodice pieces by 2" per the pattern and her back to waist measurements. The shortening was from the bottom so I thought it would just "draw up" the waist.? I will try a basting of side seams as you suggested. There is lining and boning for the pattern so I'm wondering which to do first. Is there any way that would change the coverage up top?

Is there any way you can remove the upper band and take in the front princess seams right above the bust? Also, is the upper edge stabilized? I also noticed on the envelope there's 1.5" ease in the bust and I think that's why it is gaping. It should be closer to 0". One of my Marfy patterns for a strapless bodice has about 0" ease through the bust. ------ -- Anne http://clothingengineer.com

If she wants more coverage at the top of the bodice I would add to the top of the bodice. The boning will make it more secure feeling especially if you add in a waist stay and make the whole thing skin tight.

I've taken in about 1/4" at each princess seam and an additional 1/2" off the center fold piece because the seams were too far apart for her and am in process of adjusting the band. I'm going to do another muslin top with these changes since the cf change doesn't give a clear view for how it will fit. I'm also a little concerned I may have stretched the fabric with all the trying, pinning, etc. I'm sorry to make this post so complicated. I can't tell what I'm doing until after I edit post. The second set of links seems to work the others are duds. Please forgive me...this is me learning to sew and how to post. Oh, and blurry pics, too. Beware: lots learning in progress!
