Colette anise Good for a full bust or look for something else?

Should I try it or look for another similar pattern that has more shaping? Wouldn't it be better with princess seams or something? ------ Melanie

I'm not sure I agree with lengthening the back to match the front after doing the FBA (as opposed to sewing the created bust dart) but it does show the steps. Having said this, I do agree that there are other styles that may be more suitable for a fuller bust. Even with a FBA alteration a princess seam jacket probably would be more flattering, but it really depends on what style you are after, how big your bust is and your overall body shape. Also the double breasted style is generally considered something a fuller bust woman should avoid so there is this to consider as well. Having said all this, I'm a C-cup and I bought the jacket as I also love it. I figure it is a boxier style (in the front over the bust) and may need some tweaking but I'm prepared to sew a toile and alter. I'm after a crop, slightly boxier style jacket anyway and not the fitted look I would get with princess seams, so for me it suits. I'm tall enough that cropped jackets suit, but typically a lack of wasit definition is a bad idea. Still, I like the loose look of this one. I've read her blog post for the sew along on how to make the fba and still retain the style lines. Probably I wouldn't need to add more than an inch, if that much. Still, I'm skeptical of her method. I couldn't possibly need to lengthen the back! My typical adjustments takes length/width out of the lower back. Perhaps this is one I will just have to try and see. But wouldn't it look awfully cute in that poppy red that's big this spring? ------ Melanie
