Narrow Shoulder Adjustment on RTW BGlazer

The store where I purchased it did alterations, but not at the shoulders? Is there a way, preferably easy one to adjust the shoulders as being short 5' and having too large of shoulders doesn't help my appearance. I am an experienced sewer and like easy projects. Thank you once again.

If a jacket doesn't fit at the shoulders, altering it to make it fit isn't one of the "easy projects" that you like, especially if you've never sewn a tailored jacket before. In the future, you will need to be sure the jackets you buy fit you perfectly in the shoulders. Other areas of a RTW jacket can sometimes be altered without too much trouble. But in order to fix the shoulders, you'd probably have to take the jacket half way apart. You do have to be sure the sleeves are long enough because moving them at the shoulder will take up some of the length. Having said that, I definitely will be more attentive to the shoulders if I ever buy any more RWT jackets. It was a tedious job for me, not one I'm eager to repeat. Rose

I have done this alteration on some of my RTW jackets, and it is a lot of work. You have to undo a big section of lining in order to be able to get to the inside, unstitch about 3/4 of the sleeve, and then put it all back. You will also likely find that there is stay tape around the armhole. If you love the jacket, it may be worth it, but it will be a significant effort to get it right.

Through the years I have made jackets, but never had to remake one. I like the jacket so I will try to work with it by taking the sleeves off and recutting the shoulder, as with the way it looks now, I'm not comfortable wearing it and it will sit in my closet or go to the thrift store, so if it doesn't work out, I will have lost nothing but have learned a good lesson.

But that was after I had ripped the seams for many layers on one of the sleeves of the first jacket I took in to her. Whew, I knew I could not get all those layers adjusted. ------ I try all things. My jacket only has the outer layer and the lining. We have only 2 tailors in my area (located in cleaners) and after taking this jacket previously in, I was told to "just take the shoulder pads out and it should be "ok". So, I guess it's work with it myself or thrift it.
