I have a really CUTE Charm pack of "sweet treats" and DH has grandkids young enough to love this quilt...

I believe it calls for Applique but no clue how to learn that... any special tips, tricks??

Here is the pattern, it's called Sweet Treats - candy treats in fabric that looks like candy jars on shelves.

Thanks anyone

The only real experience I have with applique is the fusible method. Where you trace you pattern piece on the not glue side of the fusible. Fuse it to you fabric and then cut and then remove paper and iron when your ready. Now they have fusible that is tacky so you can place your piece and it will stay until you are ready and then iron it down. Not sure what machine you have but if you have an embroidery machine can get applique designs for them as well. First you put your fabric you want to be the applique in the hoop. Then it traces the design. The you take hoop off machine cut the fabric close to the sew edge, put back on machine and it finishes off the edge for you. There are some other methods with freezer paper, and interfacing. And turned needle for hand sewing which I don't do. It's almost like a sub culture of quilting. I always like the idea of it as it allows you to be so artistic. So I'm finally jumping in with both feet. See the tree topic.

Thank you!!! Just what I needed to understand the beginning steps! On my list for Christmas, so it is a little way off but I can learn and practice

Yes I see this is yet another side of quilting - and I don't do anything by hand unless it's threading the Sewing Machine hehhe

My mom swears by needle turn appliqué.

I'm more a freezer paper appliqué kind of girl who occasionally ventures in to fusibles. Love Misty Fuse as it's very thin webbing, so no icky crunchy and no need to " window". Also comes in an anti UV so no yellowing of light fabrics.

I love Misty Fuse too. I use my teflon oven liner to apply it to the fabric first, then I trace and cut my shapes out right on the fabric.

I have used the paper backed web too, but I have a REAL hard time getting the dang paper to peel off my fabric!

I just score it with a pin, not unlike using the sticky back embroidery stabilizer. I have used the paper back fusing stuff in a long while. It has gotten better since the last time I used it, and thinner also. I guess cos people really started getting into the fusible applique quilt stuff.

This method keeps the fabric folded under and in place until you are ready to do the stitching.
