Date: 2/6/13 11:47 AM Has anyone used Paintworks? Does it work? Looks interesting to me but would be nice to get a review on the product before going to see it at a dealer. |

Date: 2/6/13 1:04 PM My Bernina dealer doesn't have it in stock yet. According to my dealer, Bernina was experiencing a problem with the pens breaking and she didn't expect to get any in the store until March. Initially, I had planned to buy both the Paintworks and Crystalworks licenses and tools since I already own Cutworks. Two licenses and the tools were going to run me $700. I don't really think I would use either Paintworks or Crystalworks enough to make that kind of investment and no longer plan to buy either one. ------ Patricia

Date: 2/7/13 1:36 AM Check on your pricing....I also have the original Cutworks software and tool; my understanding is that you only have to purchase the tools for Paintworks (most dealers seem to be charging $199) and Crystal Works, also $199. That would make the total around $700 but you already have the basic software, which you would need to do the update from the Bernina site at no additional cost. Hope that helps, I am not going to add the additional tools at this time but many people are very excited with the prospects. |

Date: 2/7/13 11:20 AM We had the issue of the pen holder of the Paintworks tool flying apart during a demo.
One of our techs cynically pointed out that it would be easier to use a computer to print the fabric.
I think it's a fun, delightful toy. It certainly is fun to watch; it reminds me of the Spirograph of my youth.
I am not likely to buy this tool. I like to draw, and don't see the need to get something else to do it for me. I would rather draw something and then digitize it. (I am certainly not a very prolific digitizer. I will work on a design forever, and then end up using it once or twice.)
I do have the Cutwork tool, and I think the software that come with it is pretty fabulous. It is a nice, all around digitizing tool. Different from Version 6 Artista software, but quite wonderful. ------ Michele Lommasson |

Date: 2/7/13 12:08 PM I think there would be times when painting instead of thread would be awesome. But, I doubt if I would actually get the tool, even if I do ever get a 7 series machine. I'd be so scared of the pens bursting and ruining my machine. ------ Bernina 730E, 530, and 350PE

Date: 2/7/13 1:24 PM I like the idea of Paintworks but think I will wait until there are a few more user reviews before I plunk down the money. |

Date: 2/7/13 1:29 PM You have to buy each tool separately -- the Paintworks tool and the Crystalworks tool, which are each about $149, I think. Then you have to buy two separate licenses -- one for Paintworks and one for Crystalworks, which updates your original Cutwork software when you register the license. Each license is $199. My dealer quoted me a total of right at $700 for both tools plus the two licenses. Or maybe it's the other way around -- $149 each for the licenses and $199 for each tool. -- Edited on 2/7/13 1:41 PM -- ------ Patricia

Date: 2/7/13 1:34 PM I also love the Cutwork software and using the tool is great fun. I'm really glad I invested in it, but I don't feel the same way about Paintworks or Crystalworks. My main concern is that my original Cutwork software will become obsolete if it's not updated with one of the new licenses. ------ Patricia

I have a question and was wondering you could help me. I called dealer about paintworks and they told me that all I need is the tool. I dont need to buy the software. She said I could just use my embroidery designs. Is this true? or Do I need to buy the software? ------ Bernina 200E, 750E, 1150MDC, Babylock Evolution, BLCS2, Juki 2010q, Simplicity Blindsticher.
