I don't know where I got the link from, but I LOVE this binding method! I wanted to use the left over print jelly roll strips for binding, but wasn't thrilled about print on print on the edges. It was perfect to add a little line of solid in between the blocks and the binding.

Also, BIG thanks to Sonut for the suggestion to stipple around the embroidery, I really love how it looks. -- Edited on 2/7/13 1:00 PM -- ------ Cathryn |

Date: 2/8/13 8:56 AM Cat what does it look like on the back. I need a method I can machine sew, Hand sewing really kills my hand. I've seen this before but this on makes sense. And you turn the binding corners and finished the ends as you would a normal binding? ------ quiltingwolf.blogspot.com |

And you turn the binding corners and finished the ends as you would a normal binding? It looks GREAT on the back! The stitching falls in the backing fabric, NOT the binding. so it's easy to hide.
And yes once the binding strips are sewn together, you pretty much treat it as one piece of regular binding.
My hubs got me the little binding clips for Christmas, and WOW do I LOVE them! I never use pins for binding, but I REALLY appreciated how I could use the clips to make sure the binding was even. I would put the front edge of the clip on the edge of the seam line on the binding, where the 2 fabrics met, then on the back I could make SURE the back edge of the clip fell in the same place, to make sure the binding was the same depth all around. The clips just happen to be the perfect depth needed.

corners are mitered in the normal way:

On the tutorial she shows you how to join the 2 ends. Joining binding ends is my nemesis. I can NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER figure it out!! I have to hand sew it and check it at least a billion times before I finally get it right. This was not much harder than regular binding!------ Cathryn |
