I suppose many of you are hunkering down with your supplies. They are talking about some vicious winds with this storm. Is there any discussion of evacuating along any of the coastal areas?

Son and DIL are in New York making up part of the 43 million in the zone.

You all take care and know that we are thinking of you.

We are in Central NY. Right now they are saying we should get about 8 inches--not as much as we had previously this winter but I bet we will get more-- Probably more snow in Oswego and Jefferson Counties (along the coast of Lake Ontario and St. Lawrence). It looks like a similar situation as Sandy only with more snow than rain. My husband is supposed to work in Oswego Co. on Saturday and I told him to stay home if it is bad but he carpools with a guy who has a 4WD vehicle and thinks he will go in anyway (we are a strange stubborn lot up here). I am going to a weekend sewing retreat about 2 miles from my house (LOL) tomorrow so did my shopping today and there were lots of folks out doing the same thing-- Aldi's parking lot was packed and Wegmans was busier than usual for a Thursday morning. I bought for the rest of the month lol. I feel for the NYC area as they are not as prepared for the snow as we are and are still trying to recover from the last big storm. Hopefully, any trees that were going to fall have fallen with Sandy. I did all the laundry in the house today too in case we lose power. I should probably fill some water jugs tomorrow morning before I leave.

Around Boston, most school districts are closed and the governor has asked people to stay the #@$! off the roads. (Paraphrased, that is. Our governor is not quite as plain-spoken as New Jersey's ).

The transit system will close down entirely at 3:30 pm. Not a flake yet! ....but the wind and snow together are expected to be pretty mean by nightfall tomorrow.

Lots of trees (still!) and above-ground power lines in my town...this may be the weekend I get the treadle machine up and running.

I cancelled my quilting class for tomorrow. We're supposed to get 10 inches of snow. Last time we had a storm like this, we got 14, so maybe this is an "improvement"?

Here in central Virginia, it rained hard last night and is now slightly overcast and about 46 degrees.

I just talked to my grandson who lives in Norwalk CT and they have an inch or so of snow and of course the worst is yet to come tonight. My daughter and son-in-law are not yet home from work. I'm hoping that living close to the coast, they will not get so much snow and hopefully the winds will not be bad. I did hear on the weather that the winds are due at high tide which is not good.

So everyone who is in the eye of the storm, we are thinking about you and hope you stay safe and warm.

Ontario is being blasted today as well, from the extreme SW of the province and eastward into Quebec. Most schools and universities in the SW region are closed, which normally only happens here about once every five or six years.

They're saying up to 25-35 cm (10-13 inches), but those estimates tend to be way too low -- they don't account for blowing and drifting. This morning at 10 it was already almost that deep in spots.

Stay off the roads if you can.

The transit system shuts down entirely, including subways?

I can relax now as I just heard my daughter and son-in-law are home. I just hope their power doesn't go out as they don't have a secondary heat source.

Oh my none of this sounds good. Get your supplies and be prepared to hunker down. In the south if anyone mentions a snow flake the store shelves get empty fast even though snowfall isn't common. Heaven help us if it did happen and we didn't get to the store soon enough. Hope it is overestimated and soon passed by all of you.
