Am working on above pattern and have just inserted the sleeves, only to find that they are both twisted and they create wrinkles all the way down my arm. I have never had this problem before and wonder what I have done wrong.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

It can happen if you didn't cut the piece exactly on the grain. A photo might help with the diagnosis.

Could you have gotten the front and back of the sleeve mixed up?
I did that once on a knit and the sleeves were like you described. It was a pain to rip them out and fix them.

Hi Sunshine,
I recently had a problem like this on a linen jacket, and it was related to the sleeve cap being too flat. You can test that by opening the seam across the top of the sleeve and see whether the gap that opens also gets rid of the wrinkle down the arm. And that gap tells you how much to add to the top of the sleeve. You can take the same amount away from the sleeve at the seamline, so it still fits in the armscye.

I found a picture of the problem in Sarah Veblen's new photo fitting book.

Good luck in getting your sleeves fixed.

It sounds like you cut the sleeves off grain, and unfortunately there's no way to fix sleeves that have been cut off grain.

However, if you have or can buy more fabric, you can cut a new pair of sleeves for your garment. But you must pay special attention to the fabric's grainline. You must be sure the fabric and pattern grainline match up exactly because if they don't you will get twisting wrinkles again.
