I'm completely befuddled...free members can't track topics; we can't easily access our own posts; can't PM other members...I'm at a total loss as to how exactly everyone keeps track of questions they've previously asked & discussions they've partaken in...even "replies on my topics" only works if there's been a recent reply. And Active Topics is a moving target (which is great!)

It just seems to me that there are a lot of lost "gems" of information. I understand that there is a lot of great...invaluable, even...information on the site (so why don't I pay for the FoPR??)...I just wish it wasn't the forums that were so...off limits. But maybe that's the method to the madness

Anyway, what I really wanted to know what how everyone else keeps track of their posts/threads of interest??

Subject: Free members cant track topics?? Date: 2/9/13 0:50 AM

I started copying and keeping my own file of my comments and posts. Since I don't comment often (and PR is the only one I've gotten into the social media bug about when it comes to comments), the file is easy to review from time to time [I gotta remember to note the category/title of the post I comment on, though]. Keep in mind that most everything on the internet is really about the dollar in the end. For me not to join forums (and I've discharged myself from many early on in the computing experience after I got smart), is not a biggy as I'm on the computer too many hours now reading and researching other areas of expertise and interests. I just don't have the time. And, when it comes to sewing, I've found loads of information on other sites and blogs as I come into the online sewing community, mostly from other PR members posting links - thanks PR'rs! Also, PR does not have the staff of facebook and I think Deepika and staff do a very good job. Heck, they're sewists and need time to sew!

You can do a search for posts by 'your username' using the search button at the top right of the board. Clunky, I know, but it gets you there

I am a member now, well worth the small cost. Before that, I always did a search on the message board to see my posts.

All the things you describe require coding and maintenance labor. It didnt take me long to see the many benefits of FrofPR membership. I know $30 a year is not in everyones budget but for me it has been well worth it.

There we go! That's what I was looking for!

I was a paid member for about a year, but didn't resubscribe because I didn't feel that I took full advantage of the perks...I'm currently revisiting that stance. It seems some of the perks were things I thought just "were" member or not.

Correct -- not using the "track topic" tool, that is. But it's very easy to look up a topic using the "search board" tool and a keyword from the message.

Not correct -- it's extremely easy. Just use the "search board" tool and look up all the messages posted by you (select "messages" and enter your user name in the user name box at the end). You can also see the conversations you've participated in most recently by going to the address bar and entering

sewing.patternreview.com/members/

then your user name.
