2 members like this. Date: 2/9/13 11:27 AM So I found this pattern and recently my DH said he doesn't "get" quilts with all the stars and patterns in them
So this is what I'm making him for Valentines -- No stars, no patterns just one plain colorful quilt
Took this photo on a queen bed and it currently goes out to the Wine color, so the Turquoise and purple peeking out next?
Any other color ideas?
Thank you for suggestions -- Debbie

Edited to add where to find the pattern FREE

If you are getting towards the end then maybe think of the final round as a border and try something that incorporates a few of the colors. Also you could try something close to black - a very dark brown or dark navy. Maybe a pieced border made from all the colors - just putting it out there - but maybe a bit too much but combined with a very dark colour could work. |

Once I made my teenage son two quilts (for his bunk bed...an extra bed for visiting buddies) with black/white prints and red fabrics, with a big thick black/red cording edge. I pieced it in a very similar manner to yours above, although I varied the widths depending on the fabrics/prints and didn't do much planning...just added what made sense to get the dimensions right. He wanted a 'guy' quilt.
Ten or 15 years later my MIL took the tops apart (the backs were worn out) and used them both (front and back) for a comforter for my FIL's at-home hospital bed. He used it for years. Then my DH started using it in one of his semi truck bunks (the red truck, of course.) Those quilt tops have had quite the life! ------ blog: goodworks1.wordpress.com

Well it's just about a Queen now, and I'm going round for a Cal. King -- so I'm thinking 4 more "arounds" to this world should get it -- Turquoise, then deep purple, then yes, a dark brown then back to a navy blue and end.. with the multi-piece splash of every color in the binding -- ohh that can SO work!
Thank! How fun Good -- I hope this will one follow us into our 5th wheel, and back home... we'll see what he thinks of it -- Or it may wind up on etsy LMAO

Edited to say -- After Stuggling with the Sheer WEIGHT of the Easy Street (which is showing under the colorful one) it's a very large Queen -- I am almost not able to lift this sucker to SID!!! So he isn't getting his Cal king from me -- Well at least I won't attempt to quilt it unless a Paid Massage is included afterwards -- Edited on 2/10/13 8:52 AM -- ------ I have great enthusium for sewing, but lack talent to be great.
