I got a Fitbit a week ago and I love it! Its basically a smart pedometer. A friend of mine posted on Facebook about hers and I was intrigued. After I swore I climbed my stairs 20 times one day, I decided to get one. And what do you know, I do climb my stairs 20 plus times a day.

Anyone else have one?

No, but I am thinking about one. I'm particularly interested in the one that does sleep tracking as well. (Fibromyalgia)
I'm kind of waiting for the Flex because it is a wristband, but it doesn't track stairs. It is supposed to come out this spring. How useful a feature is the stair counting ?
I've heard that they are very motivating for increased activity.
Glad you like yours.

I have been using BodyMedia for about 2 years now and it has made the world of difference in my life and my health.

I took a quick look at the Fitbit and it looks like the big difference is the use of the food diary with Body Media.

Since I started using BodyMedia I have lost and kept off about 55 lbs and am off almost all of the weight-related meds I was on. I have been able to fine tune my food intake to work with my health issues and my changing needs as I age which has been all worthwhile. I've become more aware of my daily activity and my sleep patterns and how what I eat can have an impact on both of them.

I got the BodyMedia because I had begun a weight loss journey and had already lost about 35 lbs but then hit a plateau and couldn't figure out what the problem was. In consultation with a personal trainer and my family doctor, we were able to analyze the data and come up with a plan that has been working. I am very happy with the results and continue to wear the BodyMedia each and every day.

Good Luck!!!!

I have a Fitbit and am totally addicted to it. I bought it so I could more accurately judge my baseline activity level. It does help motivate me to move more! I also found out I fall asleep an average of 7 minutes once hitting the pillow.

From my BodyMedia I learned that I fall asleep 3 to 5 minutes after I turn off the light. I also sleep more soundly when I have been involved in a physical workout type of activity (actual workout, dancing, long walk, etc.).

With the food diary and on-line data base, I'm able to keep track of my nutrient intake to make sure I'm getting what I need. It also helps me to know what things cause me to feel yucky the next day.

I just received mine last Thursday and I'm not sure how the sleep tracking works. I've worn it at night but it doesn't log sleep time. What am I doing wrong? I've been really busy at work (computer work) so I'm really seeing that I do not move much at all! Less than 3000 steps a day. Once I get my annual conference finished (where I will be walking close to 10K steps a day at least) I'll be able to really try to track.

Edited for misspelling

I am really loving mine. It is very motivational. I didn't look at the Body Media link but the Fitbit does have a food log/diary and it calculates your intake vs. expenditure. I am not the best about using it though.

I like the stair tracker only because I do a lot of stairs and it was fun to see what I do. I think it counts towards your activity, but I'm not sure.

For the sleep tracker, if you have the Fitbit One, which is the longer one. The other model is more square and does not have the sleep tracker. All you do is when you are in bed, press and hold the button till a timer starts. When you get up, press and hold again til it stops. You sleep will be logged automatically when it syncs.

I have Fibro too which is why I chose the model with the sleep tracker. You know, I'm not sure it really tracks what those of us with fibro deal with sleep wise, lack of good sleep. I don't think it's that sophisticated to know when you are sleeping well vs. poorly. My Fitbit tells me I sleep well actually.

Does the Fitbit sync with a PC, or only with a phone?
