Date: 2/12/13 10:35 AM So I've pretty much cried my eyes out over the past 2 days.
I've got a very sweet 15 year old dachshund that has meant everything to me - through thick - and a whole lotta "thin" - and she's really declined in health in just the last week or so.
She's getting stuck in places, sometimes doesn't recognize me, keeps pacing around the edges of the rooms.... she's just disoriented. She has moments of clarity, but these last few days she's "gone" more than she's here. :(
I got a prescription for her yesterday - I guess I felt I needed to do something... but it's pretty obvious it's just a band-aid (if it even works at all - the side effects listed with the med are the same things she's exhibiting now).
Feeling like today might be the day I should just let her move on.... but it's tearing me up.
Anyone else ever have an aging dog and you got this turned around? ------ nightowlsally.com
On my radar someday: Babylock Serger, and some machine for travel.
My dearest wish is to have Bernina come out with a machine that doesn't give me a reason to *not* buy it.

Date: 2/12/13 10:51 AM Hopefully you'll check your various vet clinics, many are better
at diagnosing aging and choices to alleviate any suffering. We lost one dog at 7 because the vet didn't diagnose possible cancer, just kept giving intestinal meds.
Our paper even started posting pet funeral notices and a regular funeral home is involved with services for family/friends. |

She's coming over today and we're going to do a home euthanasia.

Date: 2/12/13 11:12 AM It is very difficult to let a pet go. My son had to put his lovely Brezzy down Sunday. Our Chewy is holding his own after having his spleen removed 3 years ago. ------ Ada

Date: 2/12/13 11:34 AM My heart goes out to you. It has been many many years since out beloved Locket reached her last day. I held her while she was given that shot and until she breathed her last.
There is nothing easy about the loss of one's pet. Be kind to yourself too. Know what you are doing is most unselfish and out of love. ------ "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are." Anais Nin
