What do you coverstitch? Knits only? Moving from knits to wovens...

I use the binder attachment some. Still new with that. I have recently purchased a Babylock Sofia. Do I keep on with the CS machine for adding bindings to armhole and necklines on wovens, or see what Sofia can do in this area? I am really a beginner in sewing machine land. I sewed on a regular machine for about 7-8 projects and then (for various reasons- mostly the machine turned out to be a lemon coupled w my wanting to do knits = frustration) used the serger and CS for the last 3 years almost exclusively. If it couldn't be made on that it did not get made. Anyway, do I stick with the sm and learn learn learn? Or is the CS the better option for certain aspects of woven garment construction? I want the best result with the least amount of frustration. Thanks, BTW it is a dress for my daughter, cotton woven material, not bought yet- so suggestions on a better option are welcome too. ---ALL--- advice is welcome, tbh. -- Edited on 2/13/13 12:15 PM --

This helps reduce ironing requirements after the garment is washed, and I think it looks nice, even with tone-on-tone thread. ------ Fictionfan

Super easy to rip out quickly. You have to start ripping at the end where you finish, not the starting end. Also- put decorative thread in your looper to make decorative stitching. Put the face of the fabric down so the deco-chain forms on the right side. You can do gentle curves. The chain stitch is super strong- look inside the leg seams of your jeans. I find it has just a touch of stretch. I've used it on wrap necklines to hold the shape, but have a tad of give for movement. ------ Sometimes she didn't always follow the recipe. The CS and serger are not "in place of" a sewing machine, and vice versa. Each does different jobs. IMO, you want all 3 in your sewing space! ------ I heart Panzy, Pfaff Creative Performance, the sewing machine love of my life!
