I bought a White embroidery machine off of ebay. I bought the PED Basic to download new designs (PES) and the machine does'nt work with it. I am using Windows 7 operating systems. The machine lights up and has a constant whistle. Can you help? Thanks

That is machine is pretty old and you will need a reader/writer box to put designs on a specialized card for that machine as it doesn't plug into the computer. Figure on another $200-300 dollars.

I'm wondering first if the machine is in working order. Might be worth it to have it looked at.

As for the designs not working, you may have bumped up against a stitch number, color change, or size limit. It's a pretty old machine; try to find out these limits. You can circumvent them to an extent if you're good with software, but designs are larger now because machines can handle more.

Try downloading a driver for W7. Here is the link.

I thought the overview for PED indicated to not use the CD that comes with PED as it is for older versions of Windows.

This machine uses 4x4 embroidery designs. In PED basic you have the choice of the 2 hoops, select 4x4 and it will put a red X through any designs too big for machine. To test if machine is functioning properly for embroidery, tensions start with a built in design. The constant whistle is the machine's way of telling you there's a design on the card that's too big.
