The Lantern skirt and the Origami knit top.

I love the knit top. It looks interesting. I'm a 14-16 and wonder if I could wear it? I think I could with slim pants.

I like both of them, and will probably buy them some day. Right now I have several projects I need to tackle first and I just spent my pattern budget for the month on Shape Shape 2.
The origami top is interesting, but seems like it would not cover the lower back (?). I could be wrong-- I was trying to visualize how it went together. It's an interesting concept. Both pieces have a bit of a Japanese vibe, which is appealing to me.

I wondered the same thing... if anyone has purchased the pattern, please let us know how the top goes together in the back and if the back is open/uncovered. Thanks!!

I really really like the new top. My hesitation (and hence my decision to not buy at this time) is it is difficult to visualize what the finished piece is like just from the drawing. Hotpattern illustrations (i really love looking at them) but they are not always accurate as to fit (close, loose, semi-fitted, etc).
I really appreciate it when Trudy does a youtube. She's not my size, but it at least gives a more accurate perspective.
Interesting pieces though! I know HP gets a bad rap sometimes, but I like their styles and glad they are doing something a little edgy again rather than more basics.
I'm on a pattern diet anyway. That has me hog tied till Fall.

A tutorial on the top was posted. As always, Trudy is very persuasive.

Yeah that's cute! It's a comeback pattern by popular request I think.

I just watched the tutorial on the origami knit top and it looks quite nice actually.

But yes, the lower back would be exposed, and she recommends wearing a camisole underneath it.

Is a rectangle shaped pattern piece, one pleat, and one shoulder seam, and the rest is just hemming the edges...looks simple, but then sometimes I find the "simple" trips me up the most ;)
