I just read a blurb about how a very 'it' accessory is the Cyndi Band hairband. Is it just me, or is it a strip of knotted foldover elastic?

Someone posted their listing on Anthropology before. We all giggled.
What is in for my 13 yr DD is the sequin elastic headbands. After buying the elastic with my JoAnn's coupon and sewing them (nervous that one of the sequins might get into my machine), these at fabric.com actually are a good deal. Others must think so, too, because they're mostly sold out.

Errr yes! Was wondering why I had so much fold over elastic in my stash! Not sure that my DDs would appreciate these though.

No, it's a strip of knotted foldover elastic that costs $1.15 each at my local yoga shop. Big difference!

Only 1.15 each? That's not bad, considering that elastic costs about 1 Euro on a meter of that, plus gas to get there and my time. 1.15 seems like a deal. Not that I'm going to knot some elastic in my hair, but... :)

I think the sequin headbands are actually a 1" triple strand of stretch sequin trim that has a piece of elastic sewn in at the back to attach the ends and make the circle or the ends could just be sewn together by hand using unwaxed dental floss.

Stretch Sequin Trim

I have oodles of this stuff in my studio -- in a variety of widths. When I cut the pieces I put a dab of glue at the base of the sequin to keep the thread/string from unravelling.

I think this is quite amusing, the fold-over elastic as a hairband.
Oddly enough, I bought a pair of pants at REI that had the hang-tag attached to the garment with a little knotted length of the stuff. I Thought it odd at the time, and considered using it as a ponytail tie, but decided that would just be too weird. Now, I realize that is what the manufacturer had in mind. It was, perhaps, meant as a little gift to ameliorate the high cost of the hiking pants I had purchased. (It didn't help. I never wear the pants for hiking. They look too good and cost too much!)
