2 members like this. Date: 2/17/13 1:20 PM I lost more pattern pieces. To be exact 4 pattern pieces (vest pattern with armhole princess seam). Of course this isn't the first time that I lost pattern pieces. Some I have found after much searching. One minute the pattern piece is on the cutting table and the next it is gone forever. I search high and low. Under the cutting table, behind the pattern cabinet. Under the sewing machine table (althought how it could fly across the room and land under there would be mystery).
I even pulled the bookcase out from the wall, no easy task. Nope it wasn't there. I did however find a facing pattern piece that I lost last summer.
I have been thinking all morning on how to keep this from happening. Then I remembered reading a blog post by Shams on making a design wall using formcore. This afternoon DH and I are going to Menards and buying some formcore and making it into wall mounted board to hold pattern pieces. If the pattern piece isn't attached to fabric I will pin it to the board. No more lost patterns.
This will even help with the other patter piece problem I have. I will cut a pattern out before I finish the current project then lay the pattern pieces down on something in preparation for my next project. This practice has caused problems in the past. Now I can put these pattern pieces on the board for safe keeping and will not have anymore lost pattern pieces.
I think there must be something in my sewing room that eats patterns pieces.
