Bigger is better? (A Sew-Steady Table Question)
Eme   Advanced Beginner MA USA Member since 7/4/04 Posts: 1158	Login to reply to this post Like this post Date: 2/19/13 11:44 PM I know I posted *ages* ago about Sew-Ezy vs Sew Steady tables, etc...but that was before I redid my sewing room, and now I have only room for a Sew-Steady extension table so I can finally take the plunge! I have room for quite a large extension table. My choices are: 18x24 24x24 32x24 (yikes, huge! and also quite pricey) I'd just as soon do the 24x24 and be done with it - but do I even need that one or is the 18x24 "good enough." I plan to do considerable sized quilts at some point. (That is the goal.) I have a large, long sewing table, so the quilt wouldn't just immediately be dropping off the extension table to the floor. Thanks for the help! :)

What size is your sewing table? If this is to be your sewing table, then as big as you can afford. You will use the room. ------ Quilting is relaxing to me. Mufffet   Intermediate VT USA Member since 8/14/05 Posts: 8925	Login to reply to this post Like this post Date: 2/20/13 2:21 PM I have found the large (18x24) table to stick out too far on my Sewing table - it actually is out over the edge of my sewing table by over an inch - the smaller table is not that wide from front to back. I think 24x24 you would really have to see how far out in front it is going to come and measure your space. I love the smaller tables (11.5x15) and have 3 for 3 different machines, one of which is/was my main FMQ machine. I have two very large ones and one of them is a Sew Steady and that is the one that sticks out in front. This means it is easy to hit it, crack it etc., so presently I haven't got it in use, and I have the machine inside the well in the table. The Janome 6300 came with a very large extension table that I use flat on my sewing table with the machine in the well, and it does not stick out in front. I love that use. My sewing table is approx. 31 1/2" by 89" or so. Picture of my sewing room table The depth is closer to 33" because it's about 1 1/2" from the wall. (You can see the rest of my sewing room in the set: Flick photo album of sewing room I don't need to have the white drawers sitting on the table, they can be hung from the wall. Also, I don't need to have two machines on the table (and wouldn't if I were working on a big project). -- Edited on 2/20/13 10:58 PM --
